Assign to's default value
Sometime, I create a new bug report which is assign to me directly. But, AssignTo field always shows another person's name. Therefore, I made mistake about assignment.

So, I'd like to set to default value of AssignTo field for each project.

For example;
- Set to creator's name
- Set specified role's user name
- Set specified user name

I have a work around for this issue - I have a user called *Awaiting Assignment. With the * in front, this user appears at the top of the list and is the 'default' user. It would be great if I didn't have to do this type of work around and actually set the person or user that I want the issues sent to as a default. My workaround primarly prevents the wrong person from being assigned, but doesn't guarantee that it will get assigned to the correct person!

yes very good idea. Users keep picking the wrong person out of a list. Good for it to default to the right person at least to start with.

Great workaround, thanks Barbara.
Especially from our "poor guy" that happened to be the first one alphabetically, and was spammed with all mistaken assignments. Which was quite a bother, since he did not even have the rights to reassign himself...

Which, in our case, is as assistant commissioner with a Read-only executive account, and who should /never/ be assigned anything of the kind!

there's another way round this I've found which might work in some cases. You can create a role that can only assign to another kind of role. So you make your user able to only pick a certain type of role and as long as the person doing the triage is the only one in the ASSIGNMENT role that would work. Of course if you have more people it get's tricky....

We would like to be able to assign a default reciever in "Assign to" when assigning new cases.

I use a "triage" system of dispatching bugs -- the project manager is best suited to determining whether a bug entry is actually a bug (sometimes, it's not!) or when it should be worked on.

Some bugs are too risky to fix late in a release cycle.

Anyway, I would like to have the option to specify the default assignee for a project, e.g., the triage person.
