automatic notification
It's periodic notification. For example,

- send my bugs list with URL by e-mail every morning

- send under 3 days remaining until due date bugs in my bugs list every day

I would add - automatically email the assignee when an issues due date or deadline has passed.
The date is captured but does not seem to be used outside the GUI.

I also wish BugTrack would have some form of "reminder function", e.g. to program a notification mechanism that sends to each user, on a periodicity established by the administrator or by the user him/herself, a reminder e-mail summarizing their open items and due date?

If such function not available, I suggest simply adding a couple of parameters to the user preferences, with: periodicity of reminders (similar to Outlook recurrent meetings, e.g. daily, every monday, every 2 mondays, every 1st of the month, quarterly, never) and, based on these, the system would automatically just send to each user a "REMINDER - YOUR OPEN ITEMS" e-mail summary of the item titles, priorities, and due dates.

By the way, I'm not into software myself, but: wouldn't it be quite straightforward to achieve this through a Web Query and then an external script generating the automatic reminder e-mails? (1) First query the database of users of your project, then (2) for each user, query titles and priorities of his or her assigned items (as they would see in "My Stuff"), and then (3) generate, through an external script, an automatic notification e-mail parametrized as above described.

If anybody can get such an external script, it would be great to share it (I'll share it myself if I get one of our IT guys to put it together). As to the BugTrack developers, the suggestion still remains to incorporate it as a core function, which would alsoe require to add some related fields to the User Prefs of each user (especially for the user to set up his or her periodicity preferences).

Right now I'm doing a workaround suggested by BUGtrack staff using a filter on Due Date and an RSS feed.

Even so, I am not a "feed-head" so I don't check my reader as regularly as I should and often miss dunning users on their Due Dates. Having this process be more automated/customizable (particularly the flexibility Miguel suggests) would be IMMENSELY helpful.

Yes that would be useful. I would like reminders on ones that are not active but not closed as I STILL can't see when someone edits these so I don't know if they have been updated or not.

Plus of course there are no dates for when the record was opened unless you go in and look at them individually so you can't tell how long they have been hanging around.

I have a variation - I am looking for an automated reminder. For instance, I want BugTrack to remind me to "undo" a change after "x" number of days. For instance, I want to implement a change, let the users work with it for 3 days, and then remove the change - but I dont always remember to remove the change. An automated "tickler" or reminder would be great!

Or a reminder if an issue has not been resolved or closed after say 3 days. Settings to be configurable of course.
