Area field summary
Answer
Purpose:
Area field allows to identify where you found the problem or where the issue belongs (for example: "code", "user interface", "documentation", "database", "miscellaneous", etc.)

Scope:
Field is "Project"-specific (each "Project" may have its own "Areas" list).

"Area" has a tree-structure and may have multiple sub-levels.
