What is the purpose of the Category, Type and Phase fields? How to use them right?
Answer
"Type" allows to specify bug type (for example Defect, Issue, Feature Request, etc.).
"Category" allows to identify type of issue or defect (for example Does not work, Functions but not to spec, Data integrity, Cosmetic, Requirements not clearly defined, etc.).
"Category" depends on "Type".
"Phase" allows identify phase where bug being experienced (Was the defect found in Production, QA, etc. or is it the issue with the Requirements, Design, etc.).
"Phase" depends on "Type".
All these fields are turned off by default.
