Using "Web query" it's possible to connect a local database or database application with BUGtrack e.g. for generation custom reports.
Unfortunately it is currently not possible for an application or script to synchronize changes from the local database into BUGtrack. This is very limiting considering the fact, that BUGtrack doesn't provide much functionality for project or release management.
I propose to "open" the BUGtrack database via an Web API. It can be realized starting with very simple HTTP POST commands like "command=edit&id=<record number>&text=<text>" or "command=assign&id=<record number>&user=<user name>".

BUGtrack REST API is online. Documentation is sparse at the moment though API methods are quite straightforward and should not be hard to call.
