Add better time recording to issues
It would be nice to implement a cumulative "time spent" on issue function.

Currently you can set an estimate of time required to resolve an issue. You can also update this estimated time required as the bug progresses. This is good!

It is also possible to update the "Elapsed time" but to do this you have to add the time you have just spent to the existing elapsed time manually, etc.

Why not add an additional "Time spent" field that would allow a contributor to easily enter the time he/she has just spent on the issue.

Then you could make the "elapsed time" a read only, calculated field that simply adds up all the individual "time spent" entries for that particular issue.

You could then feed this into a rudimentary "per user" time sheet report that could give time spent per user on: a particular issue, a particular day, week, etc.

I think that this would be really helpful from a reporting point of view, both incident response and time sheet type reports would benefit from this

good idea,

thanks

Good idea.

Entering such records should also record the role of the user, for the related statistic/reporting purposes. Perhaps a more elaborate concept of "resources spent" into an issue could be thought of (defining a new data type, resources).

It would be helpful for example to be able to record project time spend with particular people eg suppliers rather than just the overall "resolution" time.
