Allow users to edit their own posts
Sometimes bugtracks can get very long because of people updating things that would be better placed in an edit.

The trouble with allowing users to do that is the resulting confusion of the developers as to what was originally asked for might already be in progress.

At Allow Administrators to edit comments idea we have discussed whether this feature is for good or for worse, might be interesting to read

I still believe that this feature would be useful, if the it is implemented as suggested by Kirill in "Allow Administrators to edit comments"[http://bugtrack.crmdesk.com/answer.aspx?aid=11571]:
"""
Perhaps we could allow the user to edit his/her entry if it is a last one, or to edit an entry within short timeframe: 10 minutes, half an hour or something like that.
"""

This is a very safe form in terms of keeping the real history, because you don't change something in the past, but doesn't solve the problem that a developer actually only needs a summary or a discussion result, not the whole history.

To address that problem, I have another idea:
"Provide a summary box for each record"[http://bugtrack.crmdesk.com/answer.aspx?aid=19869]
